I am a Canadian textile artist in Calgary, Alberta. As textile artists, we connect and are connected to communities larger than our Selves, or our immediate environs. We encapsulate culture, technique, history and innovation every time we touch cloth.
I have three passions in my creative life, and my year is divided amongst them. Natural dyes and textile work with those dyed threads and fabrics are my #1 focus, and those are my late spring and summer focus. In the fall and winter, i paint for my own pleasure, and i create wearable art for the curvy and luscious. Some of these finished items are listed online in my shop, seasonally and as they are completed. (Note, at the moment, my wearable art is being produced and will be on the site listed under the category Unknown Sister.)
I also garden, embroider my own idiosyncratic designs, have written articles for print and digital, have taught various fibre related subjects in real life and online, and am a life long learner in sciences and arts from anatomy and health, to botany and beading, home repairs to geography and history.
I’d really like to meet people in my area (Alberta Canada), online and in person, to share our interests. It takes a village not just to raise a child, but an artist too!
