Dani Dreams of Glass LLC - Daniella Fisher

Hi! I’m Dani, a chemistry professor and glass artist in Cincinnati, Ohio, dreaming up unique and affordable creations in fused glass jewelry, ornaments, stand-up statues, and functional art bowls/dishes for entertaining and everyday use. All items are hand-crafted by me from “scratch” – I produce the pieces from sheets of glass in my home studio.

My fusing enthusiasm began over 12 years ago when attending a social event at a local glass studio. I’ve always been ”crafty” – sewing, knitting, crocheting and such – so glass became another medium for me to explore creative ideas. My background in chemistry has helped my understanding of how glass behaves and the possible reactions of colors to provide some surprising results. I love teaching and incorporating science into my art. My pieces contain elements of classic quilts, Fibonacci sequences, Einstein shapes, and more. And nothing goes to waste – leftovers from larger projects are recycled into smaller pieces like “scrap” hearts, abstract jewelry & dishes, and accompanying pieces for large dishes.

For me, my art is at its best when it can be both visually pleasing and functional. I think a beautiful dish makes food taste even better and beautiful jewelry makes every outfit special. I want my art to help people have a beautiful day every day.

Languages and travel:

I've traveled throughout the US, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Bulgaria, the former Yugoslavia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Japan.

Sustainability and diversity:

In working with glass, I use only a US glass supplier that is committed to responsible manufacturing (e.g. significant reductions in water and natural gas use, decreased green house gases, emissions controls, etc.). In my studio, I use all the bits and pieces of glass left over from cutting large projects, including the tiniest bits. In purchasing my kiln, I chose a ceramic fiber one that significantly reduces heat output and electricity costs – heat goes into the glass, not the kiln insulation and it uses less electricity. I am exploring making small items out of household discards – bottles, etc.

From my travels and teaching, I’ve interacted with people of many cultures and backgrounds and have volunteered in my neighborhood for projects that bring people together with art. I’ve used elements of cultural designs in many of my pieces from traditional quilting to kente cloth design/colors. I strive to acknowledge the incorporation of designs and how it influenced the piece. Beauty is found everywhere and should be shared widely.
