As a 21st Century stitcher, Claudia Jäggi has moved beyond the traditions of her grandmother’s craft into the world of highly textured, richly colored, mixed media embroidered artwork. Her work is infused with images from the natural world. Mostly self taught, Claudia is a methodical artist and is unafraid to experiment with approaches to creating. (O. I speak German and Valsertütsch, English, French, a bit Italian and a tiny bit Spanish. (I also understand Latin and Old Greek.)
For 12 months, I have been living and working in the US (Boulder, Colorado). I travelled most European countries, some of North Africa, many states of North America and Canada. Would love to add Asian countries and Australia to my list!
My day job is that of a special education teacher and social worker, so diversity is an important aspect of my professional work.
For my art and crafts, I try to use vintage, upcycled or passed on materials. If I buy new, I prefer local manufacturers and/or small businesses.
I love connecting with people and collaboration in the arts field is a great bridge builder all over the world.
