For more than 40 years, MarketPlace: Handwork of India has partnered directly with women artisans in Mumbai. Today about 400 women across 11 cooperatives design, stitch, and hand-embroider our clothing. Our US team works alongside our production partners in Mumbai to bring their work to customers across North America.

We make women’s clothing meant to be worn for decades. Every piece is 100% cotton and small-batch, with hand embroidery on every garment and real, functional pockets. Many of our customers still wear pieces they bought 20 or 30 years ago.

We’d love to connect with other makers, shops, and craft lovers who value handwork and the people behind it. We’re especially interested in collaborations, community events, and sharing artisan stories.
