I spent childhood years in a village near Niagara Falls. I joined the Peace Corps and went to India in 1966. That changed my perspective about the world. My homebase is in the mountains of Western North Carolina since 1970. I have led Earthwatch journeys in Tunisia and France in the early ’80’s. I have built custom homes here in the mountains for over 45 years and am now retired from building, actively exploring new travel trends.
I am passionate about communities sharing what they are proud of with like minded people. I am currently working on sharing the traditional values and the emerging traditions here in the Toe River Valley region. I see the traveling public moving toward learing more, traveling slower and staying in places longer.
I encourageย educational travel worldwide and gather information on communities moving in this positive direction and away from abusive tourism. I am particularly interested in craft workshops, culinary experiences, unique building design, agri-cultural ways, quirky places and museums of tradtional cultures.ย
